Uninsured Motorist Coverage
What is uninsured motorist coverage?
Uninsured motorist/drivers insurance spares you from putting your hand in your pocket for injuries or property damage from crashes you didn’t cause. In some states, this type of cover is required but is also available in states where it’s not legally required.
What is the difference between the underinsured and uninsured?
Underinsured motorist coverage steps in if you are in an accident with an at-fault driver whose liability limits are too low to cover the medical expenses of anyone injured in the accident. The driver at-fault will have an insurance policy and this will normally pay for all damages up to his or her car insurance policy limits, then the underinsured motorist coverage could cover the difference up to the limits you selected.
In some states, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverages are bundled together as a single coverage in your car policy.
